The Samurdhi Ministry in collaboration with Nelna Group Companies and Gold Coin Feed Mills (Lanka) Ltd conducted a one day workshop at Anoma Holiday Resort, Hanwella to educate Samurdhi beneficiaries on poultry farming as a self employment venture. The programme aims to provide Rs. 15,000 to 20,000 monthly income to Samurdhi families to uplift their economic conditions. Samurdhi Minister R. A. D. Sirisena inaugurating the workshop said under the open economic system, state sector employment is coming down while recording a considerable growth of private sector employment. The assistance made by the Nelna Group Company to the Samurdhi Ministry would facilitate to implement this program in a more productive manner. He said the Ministry in collaboration with Nelna has already commenced this project at Horana, Dehiovita, Ruwanwella and Deraniyagala areas by assisting Samurdhi beneficiaries to obtain a Rs. 15,000 to 20,000 monthly income. "I also request the Nelna Group Company to introduce 250 kg chicken products to the market for the benefit of low income families at concessionary rates who have no ability to purchase chicken products at large scale. This will also help to overcome the malnutrition by providing a nutritious food to Samurdhi families," he said. School Education Minister Suranimala Rajapakse also spoke. |
