Lankan exhibition at London's Royal Festival Hall

by Karel Roberts Ratnaweera

London's Royal Festival Hall will be the venue of an exhibition that will showcase selected Sri Lankan businesses on December 8th and 9th. According to a contractual arrangement 'wherein such events may be held at the Royal Festival Hall,'as stated in a press release, the exhibition will be held on the two days on which Sri Lanka's orchestral conductor of international repute, Rohan Joseph, who is Music Director and Principal Conductor of The Philharmonic Society of Sri Lanka, will conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra, of which the Prince of Wales is Patron,

in a complete Bruckner Festival. Chairman of the Board of Investments (BOI), Arjuna Mahendran will host a reception on December 9th for potential foreign investors prior to the orchestral concert. The press release says that a high-profile multi media presentation will be made to several potential investors on the benefits of investing in a 're-emerging and peaceful Sri Lanka.' For the first time in the history of the Royal Festival Hall, non-performance foyer areas will be converted into exhibition space to house the special Sri Lankan exhibition. This opportunity was made possible as a result of a three-year recording contract by and between the British orchestra and the Sri Lankan conductor.
