SLMM Chief to meet Thamilchelvam by Ranga Jayasuriya The Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) Chief will meet the LTTE Political leadership this week to discuss means of avoiding a recurrence of disturbances that took place in Point Pedro last week. "Head of the Mission Gen. Trond Furuhovde will meet LTTE Political Wing Chief S.P. Thamilchelvam in Kilinochchi. The Point Pedro incident and possible ways of averting such incidents will be discussed," SLMM Spokesman Teitur Torkelsson told the "Daily News". Among the other issues to be discussed are full implementation of the Ceasefire agreement including the vacation of public buildings occupied by Security Forces and fishing restrictions. The SLMM Chief will also visit Jaffna where he will meet area commanders of both sides. The full implementation of the truce and communications between the two parties will be discussed, the spokesman said. |
