Ferrari for free...!

The brand new Ferrari zoomed up and down the streets of Bombay. It went up one road and down another. The people on the sidewalks jumped out of the way and those in cars on the roads swerved to the side to avoid being hit by the gleaming machine. The young man driving the sports car had excitement and elation writ on his face. It was like watching a young boy playing with his birthday gift.

The minister of communications grinned at the minister of finance and they both looked at the young man getting out of the Ferrari. "He's happy," said the minister for communications. "Yes," he's happy," agreed his colleague. "He loves Ferraris," said the minister for communications.

"Yes I noticed," said the senior minister.

"That's why he requested me to ask you to waive the duty on the car," said the younger man.

"Fifteen million rupees!" sighed the minister for finance.

"A birthday gift from the government, for the greatest cricketer in the world!" said the minister for communications.

"Didn't he have the money?" "Why should he pay?" asked his junior.

"He makes a hundred million in sponsorships a year." "Why should he pay?" asked the junior minister.

The minister for communications and the finance minister looked at a crowd that was gathering in front of them. "What do you want?" asked the minister for finance.

"Our salaries!" shouted some government employees. "No money," said the minister for communications.

"Revised pay scales," shouted teachers and lecturers.

"Shortage of funds," said the finance minister.

"Food!" shouted the poor.

"Empty granaries," said the communications minister.

"Subsidised insulin," shouted the diabetics.

"Free treatment," shouted the HIV infected.

"Medical camps," cried weeping mothers with pathetically thin babies at their breasts.

"No money!" shouted the minister for communications and the finance minister together.

The brand new Ferrari zoomed up and down the streets of Bombay. It went up one road and down another.

"He's so happy," said the communications minister.

"With a fifteen million gift, he better be" sighed the finance minister.

"Food," shouted the poor.

"Salaries," shouted the unpaid.

"Medicines," shouted the sick.

"No money," shouted back the two ministers together.

The brand new Ferrari with the richest sportsman in the country zoomed up and down the streets of the city.

"Is he planning on a Rolls next year?" asked the senior minister of his junior.

"As a matter of fact he is" replied his colleague with a grin. "Duty free..!"
