'LG bodies, business community, amity for prosperity

The Local Government institutions and business community of an area should have mutual understanding and cordial relationship for the prosperity of that particular area, said the Chief Minister of Southern Provincial Council H.G. Sirisena.

He was addressing a workshop held for the Chairmen of Local Government institutions and the business community of the Hambantota district. The workshop, organised by the Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce (HDCC), was held at Vihara Maha Devi Human Resources Training Centre, recently.

Chief Minister H.G. Sirisena said, under the Rural Economic Advancement Program (REAP) of the Southern Province, we will be able to develop each Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) area in the Province. Under REAP we will be able to provide Rs. Seven and half lakhs for a kilometre of area to each PS division according to its width and breadth.

Assistant Commissioner of Local Government Hambantota District H.A.P. Amarabandu and Director General, HDCC, Azmi Thassim also spoke.
