by Ranil Wijayapala Six aircraft specialists from the 'Catic' Company of the People's Republic of China arrived on Sunday to investigate the Air Force Y-8 plane crash in which five airmen were killed. The Chinese experts will examine the remains of the Y-8 brought to the Ratmalana airport, Air Force Spokesman Wing Commander Ajith Wijesundera told the Daily News yesterday. The team will also visit the crash site. They will have discussions with Air Force officials during their stay here. The specialists are expected to forward a report on the condition of the plane's engine number 4. The postmortem on the airmen will also be forwarded to the team. Meanwhile the five-member committee headed by Air Commodore Lakshan Salgado to inquire into the August 15 plane crash is expected to submit its report after the Chinese experts submit their report. |
