SLEDB teams up with Kompass Lanka to provide business contacts Export sector industrialists and businessmen can now obtain Kompass business information through the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB). Kompass Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., has made this arrangement with the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB), to offer fast track information to industrialists and businessmen involved in the export trade as the Export Development Board is the official provider of such information, a press release said. Mangala Wickramarachchi, Managing Director Kompass Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. commenting on the new arrangement said his company is privileged to be associated with the SLEDB in servicing the local entrepreneurs. Executive Director SLEDB, Dr. Lalith Gamage said, Kompass Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., an affiliate of the renowned Kompass International, has a wide information network and as such the Export Development Board would be in a position to cater to the information requirements of entrepreneurs better and faster by teaming up with it. The EDB plays a leading role in the development of the export sector by providing infrastructure facilities, business information, popularisation of e-commerce and a host of other services. Foremost among them is the provision of business information needed by the business community engaged in the export of goods and services and popularisation of e-commerce. The main function of the Kompass is to gather and distribute business information related to the international trade on the export and import of goods and services. Kompass information network contains information regarding 1.8 million firms engaged in the export and import of goods and services in over 70 countries. It is through the Kompass network that the World Trade Centre, United Nations Industrial Development Organisation and trade chambers throughout the world obtain the business information needed by them.
