Major changes in SriLankan Airlines management? A major change is imminent in the SriLankan Airlines top management with the Sri Lanka and Maldives Country Manager, Chandana de Silva tipped to be replaced. De Silva is to be appointed Corporate Communications Manager, while the Station Manager Bangkok, Ranil Wagiswara had been requested to take up duties as the new SriLankan Airlines Country Manger, Sri Lanka and Maldives. De Silva was appointed to this position by the previous government and is speculated to have played a major role in the privatisation of the national carrier which changed the management of the airline to Emirates. Wagiswara had been a longstanding employee of the airline counting nearly 15 years with the airline. He had also served as the country Manager in Colombo, Malaysia and other countries. Meanwhile, the present Corporate Communications Manager, Victor Abeysekera is to be posted as the country Manager either to Malaysia or Bangkok making way for de Silva. These new appointments are expected to be effective from October. |
