Muralitharan continues to head Lion ratings

Off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan continues to head Cricinfo.com's latest Lion Ratings which rate Sri Lankan players according to their performance in batting, bowling and fielding in both Test and One Day Internationals.

Lion Ratings which is powered by Cricinfo.com is a sophisticated rating system that computes the aggregate value of each Sri Lankan player over a 12-month period. Even catches are taken into consideration and an aggregate value is produced for each player.

Muralitharan missed the NatWest triangular series but bounced back against Bangladesh with his 11th ten-wicket haul in Test cricket. He also equalled Sir Richard Hadlee's world record 36 Test five-wicket hauls.

Captain Sanath Jayasuriya retained his number two position as he scored the quickest one-day century ever in England during the NatWest series and then smashed an entertaining 145 in the first Test against Bangladesh.

Sangakkara moves up the Lion Ratings to fifth after a strong finish in the NatWest series and a 75 against Bangladesh in the first Test.
