Muralitharan moves to fourth

Sri Lanka's ace off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan moved up to fourth on the list of all-time wicket-takers in one-day-international matches during the recently concluded home series versus Bangladesh.

Picking up six wickets in the 3-match series which Sri Lanka won 3-0, Muralitharan moved past Australia's Shane Warne and currently has a tally of 282 wickets from 191 matches, only 13 wickets behind India's Anil Kumble who is third with 295 wickets from 229 matches.

Pakistan's Wasim Akram is the highest all time wicket taker with 463 wickets from 334 matches, followed by Waqar Younis who has 377 wickets from 237 matches.

Muralitharan currently has a bowling average of 23.87, with a strike rate of 37.0 and an economy rate of 3.86. His career best was 7 for 30, and he has taken five wickets in an inning six times.

Muralitharan will next play in the Morocco Cup 2002 in Tangier, Morocco, which begins on the 12th of August. (BCCSL Media Release)
