The Mallika Nivasa Samithiya best known for its work with the elderly opened the Mallika Home for elderly women in 1921 with just 2 inmates. Today a hundred elders live out their lives here in peace and harmony, engaged in religious observances. The society also manages the Parakrama Home for Boys in Ragama, Sneha Infants' Home, Bambalapitiya and 'Seth Medura' and 'Seth Sevena' two paying homes for elderly ladies.

A Dementia Care Centre was opened at the Mallika Home in March with HelpAge sponsorship. It is envisaged that this centre, will be of use not only as a care service for inmates suffering from this condition, but also as a centre for instruction and research.
