'Pay parking fees only to CMC wardens

The Internal Audit Unit and the Flying Squad Division of the Colombo Municipal Council are presently carrying out raids in the City, on the instructions of Honourable M. Azath Salley, Deputy Mayor of Colombo, as complaints have been received, that parking fees are being collected from drivers, by persons who are not employees of the Council.

A considerable increase in Revenue is shown in 'Asiri' Hospitals area in Narahenpita and Opposite National Hospital, Colombo during inspections carried out by those units, a CMC news release said.

Arrangements have been made to carry out similar raids in other parts of the City in the coming weeks. Azath Salley, Deputy Mayor requests all drivers not to pay parking fees to persons other than employees of the Council who are detailed to that work, and to obtain a receipt issued by the Council for any payment made by them.
