The role of Auditors - public representations invited The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), will appoint a committee to study and make recommendations on 'The Role of Auditors'. This was decided at the recent consultation on 'The Role of Auditors'. The committee will study the following matters: * the composition, scope, powers, responsibilities and duties of audit committees; * the rotation and change of auditors; * the separation of audit functions from consultancy and related functions for the same client; * the adequacy of requirements relating to disclosures to be made by auditors; * the desirability of auditors holding shares / offices / directorships / positions of influence in companies they audit; * the continuing professional education and training of auditors; and * other matters of relevance and significance in ensuring the independence and integrity of auditors. The SEC invites individuals and associations wishing to make representations to forward such representations on or before August 15, a SEC press release said. |
