CID
to quiz Singaporean beauty queen
by Sarath Malalasekera The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) wants to talk to a Singaporean beauty queen who, they suspect is involved in a major forged dollar racket police said yesterday. The CID busted a massive forged dollar note and vehicle racket following the arrest of a suspect who is a resident of Matara. Investigations revealed that the suspect now in remand custody with the assistance of the foreign beauty queen used to hire cars from rent a car service centres and dispose the vehicles after dismantling them. All vehicles involved in this racket are from rent a car services in Colombo and the suburbs. The CID is trying to ascertain whether the foreign beauty queen is also involved in the forged dollar racket. The investigators believe that the foreign beauty queen used to bring forged dollar notes to Sri Lanka and sell them to certain businessmen here. The suspect and the beauty queen had hired a car from a rent a car service owned by a Colombo businessman by depositing their passports and several thousand dollars. Investigations revealed that the two passports and dollars were forged. The suspect and the foreign girl had been living in a five star hotel in Colombo while operating the racket. |
