Lessons that we can learn from South Korea by Sharm de Alwis We should be proud and elated that South Korea, a country in our Eastern hemisphere, reached the semi-finals of the World Cup Soccer Tournament. That they lost by the slender margin of one goal to Germany, a country steeped in soccer lore and experience is what made us sad at the defeat but also joyful within for the manner in which the spectators behaved. A sea of red and yet no man, no woman went up in despair after the final whistle. They stayed to applaud and to cheer victor and vanquished alike. For us in the sub-Continent there were lessons to be learnt. |
