The Ministry of Defence has appointed a board of inquiry with Rear Admiral L.D. Dharmapriya as Chairman and Senior Superintendent of Police M.J. Savangan as a member to inquiry into the incident that is alleged to have taken place in Velanai, Kayts in the night of June 20.

Lieutenant Commander RACN Ratnayake will function as the Secretary to the Board of Inquiry. The Board of inquiry will commence hearings on June 28 in Kayts at Sri Lanka Navy's "Kanchadewa" or other suitable location in the Northern Naval Area. Those interested in giving evidence are requested to contact the Board of inquiry. The Board is expected to hand over the report by July 2.
