by Ravi Ladduwahetty The Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting yesterday, approved a proposal from Power and Energy Minister Karu Jayasuriya for the setting up of the 300 Megawatt Thermal power plant at Trincomalee, political sources told the Daily News last night. The Cabinet has also approved a proposal to permit the Indian Oil Corporation to import and market petroleum products, they said. The Cabinet also approved a proposal from Labour and Employment Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe to increase overtime for women up to 60 hours a month. Minister Jayasuriya yesterday visited the Trincomalee oil tank farm and the jetty of the Trincomalee port and also inspected a project site for the coal fired plant where residential quarters for 200 employees of the project could be built. |
