Special bus service to Madhu

A special bus service will be operated by the Gampaha Private Bus Operators Association for the convenience of Madhu pilgrims this year, Rehabilitation Resettlement and Refugees Minister Dr. Jayalath Jayewardene said yesterday.

Around 150,000 plgrims are expected to participate in the annual feast at Madhu Shrine on July 2.

Pilgrim groups can book special buses from the bus depots both private and CTB, in their respective areas, at concessionary rates, a spokesman for the Gampaha Private Bus Operators Asociation told the Daily News.

A fleet of special buses will operate from predominantly Catholic areas such as Negombo, Ja-ela and Kandana and from Colombo for the convenience of pilgrims. The special transport scheme will commence three days before the feast day and will continue for two days after July 2, the spokesman said.
