Royal Thomian should be a close battle by Chris Dhambarage A rousing game is on the cards when the traditional rivals Royal and S. Thomas' College Mount Lavinia clash in their annual inter school rugby encounter at the Royal grounds today. Both teams have maintained an unbeaten record in the current season and look evenly matched with some talented players in their ranks. Royal have four wins to their credit over Zahira, Ananda, St. Peter's and St. Anthony's while the Thomians also beat Zahira and Thurstan College by convincing margins. The match should turn out to be a forwards battle as both teams have made use of their heavy 'pack' to exploit their opponents in the previous encounters. Royal possess a superb third row spearheaded by the dynamic Dushantha Lewke who is certain to make an impact once again. In addition their three quarters too have been in great form this season and have been among the try scorers in almost every outing. The Thomians will be determined to keep their unbeaten record intact and also to avenge their last years defeat where they were thrashed 0-30 in a one sided encounter. S. Thomas' last win over Royal was in the year 2000 when they triumphed 14-11 under the captaincy of Gavin Jayasekera. The teams: Royal: Shamil Mohamed, Mafaz Ismail, Venura Perera, Nanda Abeysekera, Raqueeb Barry, Channa de Silva, Kushan Athukorale, Dushanth Lewke, Zulki Hamid (captain) and Ishan Perera, Indika de Silva, Rajith Jayasundera, Bilal Yusuf, Varun Wijewardena, Chamath Danawansa.
