Wesley go out favourites Wesley College will go in as the favourites to win the first leg of the Blaze Trophy rugby encounter when they take on the traditional rivals Kingswood College at Havelock Park today. The Wesleyites are enjoying a superb season having already brought down a couple of fancied teams including a historic triumph over Trinity College. In addition they also had the better of Dharmaraja College and St. Anthony's College quite convincingly. Last week of course they suffered a minor setback while going down to Isipatana 3-6 in a close encounter. This time however they are certain to dominate the proceedings with their superior set of forwards and speedy three quarters. The Kingswoodians will have a tough time in containing the Wesley team which is packed with a number of senior players. Meanwhile Isipatana will travel up to Kandy for their inter school fixture against Trinity College at the Bogambara Stadium today. Isipatana who are unbeaten in the current season are certain to pull off this game by a big margin and underline their dominance in the tournament. Last week they came out with a splendid performance to beat the high riding Wesleyites 6-3 having earlier defeated Kingswood College by a convincing margin in Colombo. In contrast the Trinitians are going through a tough time having lost all their matches in the season. They will need to produce an improved performance if they are to contain the strong Isipatana outfit who are fielding a number of coloursmen. (C.D). |
