Mr. Lionel Premasiri of the United National Party took his oaths as the Mayor of Galle before the Minister of Public Administration Vajira Abeywardene at the Galle Town Hall, on June 19th.

Premasiri took his oaths as the Mayor of Galle for the second time. Last time he contested on the PA ticket and became the Mayor and this time he contested from the UNP ticket and became the Mayor.

Thereafter the Deputy Mayor and the rest of the UNP members took their oaths before the Minister Vajira Abeywardene and the New Mayor.

Among those present at the oaths taking ceremony were Galle District MPs Hemakumara Nanayakkara, Gayantha Karunatilake, Jayantha Jayaweera, Divisional Secretary for Galle, G. Hewawitharana, SPC and UC members, PS Chairmen and members, Police Officers, Army Officers and Heads of various departments.
