by Florence Wickramage A unique program to train future group leaders has been launched by the Ministry of Public Administration, Management and Reforms in collaboration with the Distance Education for Public Servants (DEPS) project of Worldview Global Media Ltd and the Sri Lanka Institute for Development Administration (SLIDA). For this purpose 150 Group Learning Centres will be established islandwide which will be managed by trained facilitators, motivators and mentors selected from experienced senior public servants. Ms. Shirani Dissanayake, Coordinator of the Multi-media DEPS project told the 'Daily News' that their programme including an interactive learning process based on course modules. The program seeks to impart the relevant knowledge and skills to public servants as well as to change their attitudes to develop an effective and efficient public management system to achieve best results. Group leaders selected from among senior public servants will be given motivation techniques and facilities of course modules which will be transmitted to the Group Learning Centres for the use of participants. Dissanayake said the ultimate aim of the program would be to support the government's search for talented public servants. |
