The Mihintale Aloka Pooja jointly organised by Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd (ANCL) and the Ceylon Electricity Board will be held for the 40th connective year from June 23 to 25. Aloka Pooja illuminations will be switched on by Power and Energy Minister Karu Jayasuriya, Buddhasasana, Justice, Law Reform and National Integration Minister W. J. M. Lokubandara and NCP Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake on the first day June 23 at 7 pm. On Poson Full Moon Poya day June 24 Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will switch on the illuminations at 7 p.m. Mass Communications Minister Imthiasz Bakeer Markar will also be associated with the Prime Minister at this ceremony. On the third and final day on June 25 Anuradhapura District Secretary W. M. R. B. Wanninayake and C.E.B. General Manager D. G. D. C. Wijeratne will switch on the lights at 7 p.m. The Poson Dharmadesana at Mihintale on June 24 will be delivered at 8 a.m. by Ven. Kotapitiye Rahula Thera, Senior lecturer Department of Buddhist Studies, Peradeniya University. |
