by By Nadira Gunatilleke The Cultural Affairs Division of the Human Resources Development, Education and Cultural Affairs Ministry and the Tower Hall Theatre Foundation has jointly made arrangements to release a special cassette named "Tisarana Urumaya" under the direction of Human Resources Development, Education and Cultural Affairs Minister Dr.Karunasena Kodithuwakku to mark the Poson festival on June 24, Cultural Affairs Division sources said. The sources said that the cassette contains Buddhist songs that describe the Buddhist cultural revival which took place in Sri Lanka after the advent of Arahat Mahinda Thera ("Mahindagamanaya"). Popular vocalists including Sangeeth Nipun Sanath Nandasiri, Malkanthi Nandasiri, Abeywardena Balasooriya, Niranjala Sarojani, Victor Ratnayake, Sunil Edirisinghe, Edward Jayakody, Karunarathne Divulgane, T.M.Jayaratne, Asanka Priyamantha Peiris, Deepika Priyadarshni Peiris, Athula Adikari, Samitha Erandathi Mudunkotuwa and Samantha Perera have sung songs for this cassette. Prominent lyricists such as Ven.Rabukana Siddartha Thera, Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thera, Dr. Ajantha Ranasinghe, Sunil Sarath Perera, Jayampathi Algama, Bandara Eheliyagoda, Vimal Abeysundara, Mahinda Dissanayake and Sunil Wimalaweera have composed songs while Sangeeth Nipun Sanath Nandasiri, Rohana Weerasinghe, Victor Ratnayake and Samantha Perera have provided music. The creation will be introduced to the general public through a special live television program to be broadcast over National television at 9.30 pm on June 25 from Mihintale. |
