The US State Department yesterday announced that 889 Sri Lankans have won Green Cards for permanent residency under the DV-2003 diversity visa lottery. They are among the 87,000 winners of the DV-2003 programme. A release from the US Embassy said: "The winners of the lottery will need to act on their immigrant visa applications quickly. Once all 50,000 visas have been awarded the program for fiscal year 2003 will end. Applicants who have not applied for and received their visas by September 30, 2003 will lose their eligibility. These conditions also apply to spouses and children of visa lottery winners. "The dates for the mail-in period for the DV-2004 lottery are from October 7, 2002 until November 6, 2002. Instruction forms on entering the DV-2004 program will be available at the Embassy Front Gate during business hours beginning late July or early August 2002 or on the Internet at www.travel.state.gov." |
