Upali takes over SLSCF

Upali Arambewela, the Additional Director General of Rupavahini Corporation was unanimously elected as the President of Sri Lanka Softball Cricket Federation for the year 2002/2003. He was also the Deputy Director General of Engineering Department of Rupavahini Co-operation, an Old boy of Ananda College, Colombo and was a member of the second XI cricket team, and was also the Vice-Captain of the School Hockey team for 4 years.

He has played for the England Mid Sussex (Minor County) Cricket team and Middlesex University Cricket Teams and has captained Cricket team of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation from 1982 to 1997.

Arambewela is also cricket umpire and active member of the Sri Lanka Cricket Umpires Federation.

He hopes to launch an Islandwide programme to popularise Softball Cricket. Initially he wishes to Organize a few exhibition matches in the cities of Vavuniya, Killinochchi and Jaffna. He has also taken steps to have a workshop to train umpires and to conduct training programmes for players.

He said the Co-operation of a group of dedicated office bearers who extend their services to execute the duties of the Softball Cricket Federation, is highly appreciated.
