News Business Features Editorial Security Politics World Letters Sports Obituaries | PA MP not to pursue FR application by Wasantha Ramanayake PA MP Janaka Bandara Tennakoon yesterday told before the Supreme Court that he would not pursue his Fundamental Rights application in connection with the alleged unlawful search of his Dambulla residence by Police after the third respondent tendered an apology. The Bench comprised Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva PC, Justices S.W.B. Wadugodapitiya and D.P.S. Gunasekera. Petitioner cited IGP, R.A. Sumathipala, SP Matale, P.K.V. Samarasinghe, IP Matale Police Station, Attorney General and several others as respondents. Second respondent SP Matale and third respondent IP Matale Police station were present in court and the third respondent in the presence of the second respondent tendered an apology in the open court, expressing regret for the inconvenience that may have been caused to the petitioner as result of the search that was carried out in the petitioner's residence from which nothing was recovered. Petitioner claimed that a Police team led by the third respondent searched his Dambulla residence in violation of his Fundamental Rights. D.P. Mendis PC with Keerthi Sigera appeared for the petitioner. State Counsel A.F.M. Anoozer appeared for the respondents. |
