Warrants re-called on complainant

The Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge A. A. R. Heiyanthuduwa re-called the warrant issued for the arrest of Collin Nelson, the complainant in the case against Suppaiah Rajeswari, who is alleged to have issued death threats to the Swiss and British nationals.

Mr. M. Iqbal Mohamed, Senior Counsel for Nelson, filed a motion before court and submit a fax message sent to him by Collin Nelson from Amman, Jordan and said that his client was unable to attened court on the last date due to his new assignment in Jordan.

Mr. Mohamed said that his client will be present in court on the next trial date.

Earlier the Court directed the suspect Rajeswari to appear in court on July 5, 2002.

On the last date the Court issued warrant for the arrest of Nelson as he was not present in Court when the case was called.

According to the investigations directed by Colombo DIG the woman suspect is alleged to have made several telephone calls to the two foreign nationals asking them to leave the country within eight days.

The two foreign nationals, Managing Directior and Marketing Manager of the Mahaweli Marine Cement Company had earlier complained to the police that their lives were in danger.

Shanaka Ranasinghe with Nisatha Gamage appeared for the suspect.

Iqbal Mohamed with M. I. M. Ishar appeared for the prosecution with the TID.
