John Keells Office Automation goes to Jaffna

John Keells Office Automation (JKOA) - the authorised agents for word-renowned Toshiba Office Automation products is now in Jaffna. JKOA is the local distributor for Toshiba notebooks, photocopiers (digital and analogue), telephone systems and facsimile machine. In Jaffna, JKOA already has a relatively small but well-established clientele comprising Commercial Bank, GTZ and United Nations.

JKOA is the first office automation service provider to visit Jaffna since the ongoing peace initiatives commenced.

The Company recently appointed a reputed Jaffna based company, Wheels Movers Office Automations as their representative in Jaffna and its suburban areas. The entire Toshiba range and accessories are now freely available in Jaffna through its dealer Wheel Movers. Overseas trained JKOA technicians will be working with Wheel Movers to ensure the company lives up to its reputation and to provide Jaffna the same quality service, which is available in the other parts of the country. Clients in the northern province could purchase Toshiba consumable and accessories in their own cities. With this appointment JKOA now has dealers in all four corners of the island.

With the positive outlook towards the ongoing peace initiatives a number of companies have already started operations in Jaffna such as Seylan Bank and Union Assurance. Both Seylan Bank and Union Assurance are serviced by JKOA. Furthermore, a large number of companies have expressed great interest in setting up business in Jaffna. Before the war, Jaffna used to be one of the leading trading centres and Jaffna based businessmen are now busy recommencing their trading activities. Furthermore both the central and the provincial governments are in the process of re-establishing the administrative structure, which is imperative for the smooth running of day-to-day activities.

A team of senior managers from JKOA, headed by its General Manager/Director Chandima Perera recently visited Jaffna to asses the situation and to appoint a dealer for Jaffna and its suburban areas. "Even though there are some office automation products available in Jaffna the prices are extremely exorbitant and no proper after sales service. As a result, office automation is either unaffordable or not practical", Mr. Perera said.

Since starting operations in 1992, JKOA has commissioned over 18,000 machines, which includes photocopies, fax machines, notebook computers, business communication solutions and cost effective e-studio network solutions.

Japanese giant Toshiba has recognised the company's overall excellence by using its Sri Lankan partner - JKOA as a benchmark for the other regional distributors. JKOA has also clinched several Toshiba awards for quality service, outstanding sales and management.

"This unparalleled successful combination is possible because we are focuses on giving a cost effective, reliable product, that keeps pace with emerging technologies," Mr. Perera said.

JKOA is a fully owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka's premier bluechip conglomerate John Keells Holdings. It is also the first ISO certified (by Holland based Det Norske Veritas) company in the John Keells Holdings' IT sector.
