News Business Features Editorial Security Politics World Letters Sports Obituaries | TNA to meet Opposition MPs by Ranga Jayasuriya The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is expected to meet Opposition Parliamentarians this week to sort out their differences on the peace process. The Alliance hopes to brief PA and JVP Parliamentarians on the TNA stance on the ethnic conflict and try to reach a consensus on the issue, a TNA spokesman told the Daily News. The TNA is expected to draw the attention of Opposition Parliamentarians to the LTTE demand for deproscription and the implementation of the Ceasefire Agreement. The Government last week announced that the LTTE would be deproscribed 10 days before the commencement of the talks. The TNA has been complaining about certain requirements of the Ceasefire Agreement which have not been fulfilled by the Government. A TNA delegation last week met the Prime Minister for the second time
to discuss the peace process, where they were informed of the Government
decision on deproscription. "The Prime Minister assured us that all
measures will be taken for the full implementation of the Ceasefire
Agreement," the spokesman said.
