Not a ball bowled on first day

Not a ball was bowled on the opening day of the Third and Final 4-day Unofficial Test between the touring India 'A' side and Sri Lanka 'A' due to overnight rain at the NCC grounds, Maitland Place, yesterday.

Although bright sunshine prevailed in the afternoon session the surrounding area of the wicket was still damp and the umpires Gamini Dissanayake and Ranmore Martinesz decided to call of play at 3.30 p.m.

The match will commence at 10.30 a.m. today weather permitting. Only one day's play was possible in the Second Test too due to bad weather at the De Soysa Stadium Moratuwa.
