The Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany has provided finances for humanitarian aid to 6,800 internally displaced people (IDP) who are returning to their villages in the LTTE-controlled areas in Wanni from the refugee camps of Madhu and Palampiddi. The humanitarian aid to the value of EUR 140,000 - equivalent to Rs. 12.3 million, will consist of material for shelter, household items and food provisions. The program will be implemented by the German NGO "Welthungerhilfe" (German-Agro-Action) and assisted by "Sewa Lanka Foundation". |
