by Piliyandala group correspondent The management of the Kesbewa Samurdhi Maha Sangamaya says that they have achieved a several targets under the government's 100 day program. They have planned to build five small houses to donate to five widowed poor women in the area. These houses are built using a capital of Rs. 15,000 allocated by the Samurdhi Development Project, donations received from well-wishers of the area, labour of the Samurdhi aid receivers and neighbouring poor. They have already donated one such house built at Jamureliya, Piliyandala to a poor family consisted of only a young widowed mother and the child who until then lived in a hut unsuitable for human living. Samurdhi Maha Sangamaya has donated schools books and stationery to 365 children in 365 families. 9 mobile trading huts were distributed to poor investors on interest free loans. 10 Coca Cola trading huts were distributed to some more poor salesmen freely. One poor mechanic was given capital equipment worth Rs. 50,000 for starting his workshop. Bank accounts for 800 Samurdhi receivers were opened after preparing relevant documents. 50 poor women were given 3 months training for dress making. Days for selling plants & flowers were organised by the flower growers connected to the sangamaya, they further said.
