by Sarath Malalasekera The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conducting investigations into several misdeeds of the previous regime and President's Security Division (PSD) personnel yesterday recovered several vehicle number plates from the residence of Baddegana Sanjeewa's father in the Kotte area. Among the other items recovered was a stuffed leopard skin. Investigators believe that the number plates would have been used for vehicles deployed for criminal activities. Eighteen wire rolls and electrical goods worth over Rs. 250,000 were also recovered from the Kotte house, the CID officials said. Earlier, the CID recovered 22 chairs and several items which belonged to the UNP election stage in Maradana during the election in 1999 election campaign. UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe presided at this meeting.
