By Nadira Gunatilleke The Cultural Affairs Division of the Human Resources Development, Education and Cultural Affairs Ministry and Central Cultural Fund (CCF) have jointly issued quality greeting cards for Vesak. A Ministry spokesman said the aim of this effort is to prevent the spoiling of young minds and destructing the culture and social ethics due to indecent Vesak cards circulated in the market in the past. Most of such indecent Vesak cards hit the market but destroyed moral and religious values in our society. The Vesak cards issued by the Cultural Affairs Division have been created based on selected drawings of Dhamma schoolchildren and the paintings at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya. The cards will be available at the Department of Cultural Affairs, 8th Floor, Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla, CCF Head Office, Athapaththu Building, Colombo 7 and at all major book shops throughout the country, he said. |
