Reforms in educational administrative system

by Addalaichenai special correspondent

Initiatives are under way to bring greater changes in the Educational Administrative System in our country by the Ministry of Human Resources, Development and Cultural Affairs. The Ministry has informing all the educational officials in the country, in this regard.

The present zonal education system will be abolished and instead, the divisional educational office system will come into effect again. The system involving the District Directors of Educiaotn would be re-introduced, the Educational sources told the Daily News.

According to this system, a maximum 50 and a minimum 20 schools will be brought under the purview of every divisional education office and a Sri Lanaka Education Service (SLES) graded officer will be appointed for these offices. At the same time, the District Director of Education will act integrating these offices the sources said.

The present zonal education system did not provide expected results in the schools and it has adversely affected the administration of education wasting human resources and finance.

Once the Divisional Educational System comes into effect the subjectwise Assistant Directors of Education would be attached to the District Education Offices. The In Service Advisors would be attached to the Divisional Education Offices.
