Ven. Getamanne Dhammakitti Thera appointed Chief Sanganayake of South

The Viharadhipati Matara-Maha Manthinda Pirivena Sastracharya Ven. Getamanne Dhammakitti Nayake Thera was appointed the Chief Sanghanayake of the South by the Kotte Kalyana Sri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha.

The letter of appointment will be handed over to him at a ceremony to be held at Rahula College Hall, Matara, on May 11, presided over by the Anunayake Thera of Kotte Kalyani Sama Sri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha Most Venerable Ittapana Dhammalankara thera.

At this ceremony the Sannasa will be read by Matara District MP Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana and the Sannasa will be handed over by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The Vijinipata will be handed over by the leader of the Opposition Mahinda Rajapakse. Minister for Buddha Sasana and Justice W. J. M. Lokubandara will read out the citation at this occasion. The Viharadhipati of Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara Ven. Dr. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangarakkita Thera will address the gathering on behalf of the clergy.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Buddha Sasana Minister W. J. M. Lokubandara Fisheries and Ocean Resources Minister Mahinda Wijesekara, Leader of the Opposition Mahinda Rajapakse and the Chief Minister of the South H. G. Sirisena will address the gathering. Ven. Getamanne Dhammakitti Thera too will deliver an anusasanawa.

The address from the chair will be by Ven. Ittapana Dhammalankara Anunayake thera. The vote of thanks will be proposed by Matara District MP Justin Galappatti.
