To enhance the secondary education in the North-East, scholarships will be awarded under 'Sisusaviya' scholarship awards scheme of the Ministry of Education to the students in the low income families in the North-East. 3721 poor students in the North-East provincial schools are to benefit under the scheme.

I.M. Izzadeen Provincial Director of Education of the North-East told the 'Daily News' that the scheme would be launched with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank's and the ADB has allocated Rs. 360 million.
