ADB to grant Rs. 40m for Jaffna by Jaffna special correspondent Officials of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at a meeting held at the Jaffna Secretariat has decided to grant Rs. 40 million to develop health, education, agriculture and water supply in Jaffna. The meeting was presided over by Jaffna Acting Government Agent Mrs. P. Paul. Every family at Thenmaradchy whose hose had been damaged during the ethnic war will receive Rs. 50,000 for immediate repairs. Five hundred houses will be reconstructed with the help of this fund. Hundred wells demolished during the war will also be reconstructed. A three storeyed building will be put up for Chavakachcheri Drieberg College. A maternity ward is to be built at Chavakachcheri Government Hospital. This hospital will also be provided with an ambulance. The Maruthankerny rural hospital will be provided with an out patients dispensary. |
