Pakistan rout New Zealand SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates, Friday (Reuters) - Pakistan, boosted by half-centuries from Shahid Afridi, Inzamam-ul Haq and Younis Khan, beat a weakened New Zealand side by 51 runs to record their first victory in two matches in the Sharjah Cup on Thursday. Afridi and Younis Khan made 56 each while Inzamam weighed in with 68 as Pakistan, batting first after winning the toss, scored a challenging 288-6. New Zealand were restricted to 237-8. Waqar Younis did most of the damage, taking three wickets while Saqlain Mushtaq and Shoaib Akhtar shared four. Pakistan could have scored a bonus point had they bowled out New Zealand inside 230, but New Zealand passed the mark in the 49th over after being 187-7 at one stage. New Zealand made a terrible start, losing the first two wickets for 34 runs by the sixth over. Nathan Astle (12) fell to Wasim Akram while Matthew Sinclair was bowled by Waqar Younis for a duck.
