Second string athletic teams abroad

Sri Lanka will send two of its second string athletic teams to two open international meets in Thailand and the Philippines in a bid to give more foreign exposure to local athletes before the forthcoming Asian Track & Field championships in Colombo in August.

The only star athletes included among the 16 athletes for the two meets are Asian Championship double gold medallist, Rohan Pradeep Kuamara and SAF Games double gold medallist Sujeewa Nilmini Jayaena.

Pradeep Kumara has been included in the eight-member team for the Thai Open to be worked off in Bangkok from May 7 to 9. Rohan Pradeep's inclusion would mainly because of his presence in the Thai capital during that time with the Sri Lanka team for intensive training.

The others included in the Lankan team for the Thai open are J.M.S.Jayasundara, K.Chandradasa, U.I.Bandara, Manjula Kumara, D.R.D.Abrew, Sujeewa Nilmini Jayasena, Mohan de Silva with Norbert Perera as Manager cum coach.

Sri Lanka team for the Philippine Open International, to be worked off in Manila from May 1 to 4, comprise A.D.N.P.Ratnasiri, S.M.A.R.Bandara, T.M.nawagamuwa, Sunimal Manamperi, Duminda de ilva, S.Weerasinghe, Jani Chathurangani, K.L.L.Gunawardena and Manager cum coach H.A.Upali.
