by Nadira Gunatilleke The National ceremony of anointing oil organised by the Department of Indigenous Medicine will be held at Buddhangala Raja Maha Viharaya, Ampara on April 15 at 7.16 am with the presence of Justice, Law Reforms, National Integration and Buddhasasana Minister W. J. M. Lokubandara, Health Nutrition and Welfare Minister P. Dayarathne and Health Deputy Minister Sajith Premadasa, Media Secretary to the Justice, Law Reforms, National Integration and Buddhasasana Minister, Nimal Abeywardena said. Mr. Abeywardena said that the Buddhasasana Ministry printed the Almanac for this year and sent it to all Buddhist temples, Ministries and all other institutions in the country free of charge. The Ministry also printed the Almanac in Tamil for the first time in the history and distributed it in the estate sector. This Almanac will be useful for the Hindu community which celebrate New Year with Buddhists. "We also sent a special massage to the Nayaka Theras of the temples requesting them to encouraging people to follow New Year customs and auspicious times. The general public will also be encouraged to engage in religious activities during the Nonagathaya. This will help to upgrade the social ethics of the country", he added. |
