by Balangoda central group correspondent Balangoda Police raided an illicit brewing den at Dampitiya forest reserve in Balangoda and seized 7360 drams of Kasippu in 80 bottles, 200 packets and in two barrels and 360 drams of goda in two barrels. Two suspects in a group of six were also arrested last Monday. A large stock of distilling utensils was also seized. When the Police raided the place there were six persons, bottling, paketing and distilling. Four persons fled, said the Police. The two suspects were produced before the Balangoda magistrate and District Judge K. P. Danthanarayana who remanded them. The Police will arrest other four suspects who escaped from the arrest. The raid was conducted by a team of Police personnel of the Balangoda Police led by S.I. Hamza under the direction of Tikiri Bandara OIC Balangoda Police. |
