Chess finals from March 28 to 31

The finals of the All Island Age Group Chess Championship - 2001, conducted by the Anatoly Karpov Chess Club will be held on the 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st of March at the Isipatana College, Colombo 5.

This tournament was conducted in the following provinces and there were over 2,000 chess players who participated. One hundred and forty players have been selected for the finals.

(1) Western Province - Isipatana College, Colombo.

(2) Central Province - Dharmawickrama Balika V., Kandy.

(3) Southern Province - Kalegana Piyatissa V., Galle.

(4) Sabaragamuwa Province - Balangoda Sri Buddhajayanthi Central College.

(5) Vayamba Province - Kurunegala, Vayamba Royal College.

(6) Uva Province - Badulla, Hali-Ela Central College.

(7) North Central Province - Hingurakgoda Rajarata Maha Vidyalaya.

The provincial tournaments were successfully conducted and AKCC completed all the seven provincial prize-givings successfully and fixed the finals for 28th at Isipatana College. Those who have been selected should call over on 28th March 2002 at Isipatana College at 8.30 a.m.
