Cueist Boteju suffers reverse after good start Sri Lanka's veteran cueist Henry Boteju who began the Asian billiards championship in Bangalore with three straight victories, suffered two successive defeats yesterday at the hands of Indians Devendra Joshi and Dhruv Sitwala. Boteju lost 3-0 to Joshi (101/50, 102/63, 100/51) and reports reaching Colombo say that Boteju squandered some simple top of the table canons to virtually gift the match away. In the second game of the day, Boteju was never his usual self complaining of chest disorder after his encounter with Joshi and after winning the first frame 100-26, lost the next two at 2/100 and 69/101 before conceding the fourth frame at 22/99. In his opening three matches Boteju beat Ronnie Chun Poh Teck of Singapore 3-0 (102/57, 103/13, 102/12), Muslim of Indonesia 3-0 (102/95, 104/75, 100/44) and U Aung San Lo of Myan 3-1 (101/44, 28/100, 102/21, 101/97). |
