Thrilling win puts Petes in final St. Peter's College pulled off a thrilling five run win over D. S. Senanayake College in their Elephant Lemonade Cup inter school knock out limited over cricket tournament semi final match played at the BRC grounds yesterday. The Peterites batting first compiled 206 runs in 49 overs with P. Jansz hitting a top score of 49. In addition opener Denver Faux made a good contribution of 41 runs supported by Gihan de Silva and skipper Jehan Jayasuriya. In reply D. S. Senanayake made a superb effort but they eventually fell short by just five runs. Jehan Jayasuriya did the damage with 3 for 31 supported by Sajitha Mendis and Samidda Gallage. Thomas' College Mount Lavinia was put off for today as the wicket was not prepared for the game at Bloomfield grounds, Reid Avenue yesterday. Sri Sumangala vs Moratu MV today and tomorrow The 50th annual Big Match between the two leading Buddhist Schools in Moratuwa, Sri Sumangala MV and Moratu MV will be worked off today and tomorrow at the De Soysa Stadium in Moratuwa. Out of the 50 matches played in the series both teams have won seven each. In the current season Sri Sumangala have won one match and lost one from eight outings while Moratu MV have won two and lost four from 13 outings. |
