Castrol powers Sri Lankans for Formula One Malaysian Grand Prix

In its enduring promise to bring the Sri Lankan motor enthusiast the thrill of motor racing, Castrol the leading racing lubricant conducted a grand competition to fuel 10 Sri Lankan racing lovers to experience the Formula One - Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix which was held on March 15, 2002, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The 10 winners of this competition, were flown to Malaysia, accommodated in star class hotels and had their own reserved seats at the Malaysian F1, Grand Prix. They experienced the excitement of the vent and saw the likes of Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard, Ralf Schumacher and Juan Carlos Montoya compete in this annual racing thriller.

This competition, encouraged Castrol lovers all over Sri Lanka to fill in an entry coupon included in every 4 litre can of Castrol Formula RS, GTX Protector or Ultimax products and enter in to a grand final draw held on March 5. The competition was run island wide from the 1st to the 28th of February 2002 in collaboration with YES FM. This promotion was a roaring success as it gained over 2000 entries from all corners of Sri Lanka, thus contributing massively to the local sales of Castrol products.

This is the first time any major commercial organisation has provided such an opportunity to the Sri Lankan public. Formula One motor racing is a world-renowned event every racing enthusiast eagerly looks forward to. The Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix is the biggest racing event in Asia and having the opportunity to experience an event such as this is a dream come true to a racing enthusiast. With the Castrol Chequered Flag Promotion, 10 such lucky Sri Lankans would get the opportunity to cheer the glory in Malaysia this year.

Winners of the promotion were Dr. M. S. C. R. Perera - Makola, Trandy Don Paul - Wattala, Ruvini Jayatilake - Nawala, D. D. J. Welikala - Seeduwa, Sasanka Panditharatne - Nawala, Ajmal Maujood - Colombo 4, Sampath Liyanage - Moratuwa, C. Welikanna - Homagama, S. L. E. Mohatti - Nawala, Romesh Walpola - Boralasgamua. In addition to this the best six Castrol dealers too will be awarded prizes in recognition of their performance.
