Severe warning for alleged match fixers by Leslie Fernando The Football Federation of Sri Lanka who held a full scale inquiry into the allegation of match fixing between Cooray SC and Jupiters SC in a key Premier League soccer championships will announce its decision at a special press briefing today at the Football House at Reid Avenue. According to a senior official of the FFSL the Competition Committee headed by its chairman Manilal Fernando, vice president AFC and the Disciplinary Committee headed by DIG Gamini Randeni President of FFSL met on this issue and carefully studied the pretest letters submitted by Negombo Youth SC and Sri Lanka Army SC. The committees also went through the explanation letters sent by Jupiters SC and Cooray SC together with the reports from match referee and the match commissioner. It is reliably understood that the FFSL will not impose a severe punishments to both clubs. It is likely that both clubs will be severely warned that if they repeat the same offence they will be liable to be banned from playing in the FFSL conducted tournaments. DIG Randeni uncontested DIG Gamini Randeni will continue to be the President of the FFSL. He will be uncontested at the annual general meeting to be held at the Football House at Reid Avenue on March 23. According to nominations received for office bearers 2002-2003 all other posts are also uncontested. The five vice presidents are J.S.N. Anandaraja, Thilina Panditharatne, Asoka Hewage, Hurley Silveria, Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekera. Suni Senaweera will be the General Secretary, B.H. Sally, Deputy General Secretary (Administration), S. Anthonypillai (Technical), Ranjith Rodrigo Treasurer, M. Rameez, Assistant Treasurer. Chrysantha Perera, a former Secretary General FFSL will be the Chief Administrative Officer. Meanwhile Manilal Fernando, vice president Asian Football Confederation will carry on with the job of Chairman Competition Committee. |
