Lanka Bell introduces Paycollect

Lanka Bell has signed up with Standard Chartered Bank's "PayCollect", a delivery/collection service. Standard Chartered Bank will be providing this service through a tie-up with Aramex Airborne Lanka (Pvt) Limited, a well-established courier company. "PayCollect" is being introduced in Sri Lanka for the first time. This offers Lanka Bell customers a new dimension in service, which provides convenience to the customer right at his or her doorstep.

Speaking at the signing of the agreement, Lanka Bell's Managing Director, Joey Mendoza said that they were the proud initiator of this service and were proud to launch it together with Standard Chartered Bank, a well-established service provider with many years of experience in their field.

Explaining the workings of "PayCollect", Mr. Mendoza said it was a fully secured courier service where Aramex representatives would deliver Lanka Bell's monthly invoices to a customer's residence or office and inturn collect the payment on behalf of Lanka Bell. After the initial delivery of the Lanka Bell invoice, authorised personnel from Aramex would then call the Lanka Bell customer within the period prior to the due date stated on the invoice for collection of the payment by cash or cheque with a receipt being issued then and there.

Aramex personnel will be clad in their official uniforms and will display their personal identification card. In addition the Aramex representative will also carry a customised identity card for the "PayCollect" service. All payment information would then be immediately updated electronically to Standard Chartered Bank and Lanka Bell simultaneously. Initially a pilot run of the "PayCollect" service offered by Standard Chartered Bank is being offered to a selected group of Lanka Bell customers.

Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank, Wasim Saifi said that he was enthusiastic about this novel venture.

"PayCollect" is a high-tech payment method with no cost to be incurred by the customer and is a widely used method of payment among service industries in developed countries. "PayCollect" is supported by a state-of-the-art PDT 8100 scanner and is one of the many value added services that Lanka Bell has offered and will continue to offer its growing SMI and corporate clients.
