Confident Hollioake belives England will bounce back NAPIER, New Zealand, Tuesday (Reuters) England allrounder Ben Hollioake, who was forced to watch his side's 155-run loss to New Zealand in Wellington from the sidelines, believes the team will bounce back. "It was very disappointing," Hollioake said in Napier on Tuesday reflecting on the loss that gave New Zealand a 2-0 lead going into Wednesday's third match. "I am sure the boys are holding their hands up and admitting they were poor. "They have no choice but to do that, but there are still three games to play and a lot of people say we are going to win the series 3-2 after the way we came back in India. "We've got a good team spirit, which isn't be all and end all, but it helps. We'll pick ourselves up." Hollioake, who is hoping to gain selection for the Napier match after recovering from a knee injury he sustained in India, said a month ago all eyes were on New Zealand and how "brilliant they were playing in Australia. "It was the same with us with our series in India. Now after two games we have been written off, but I am positive we can turn it around." Hollioake said his injury, which has been diagnosed as tendonitus, was annoying. "After the summer I started to cement my place and the injury took all the momentum I had away," he said. "If you are not playing because of form it's a different story, but when it is an injury it's just frustrating and annoying." Hollioake, who has signed another year's contract with Surrey after being courted by Warwickshire, said he is desperate to get back in the team with an eye to next year's World Cup. "If I make it back for these three games in New Zealand, I know I would have to do well and keep going through the summer's tri-series in England," he said. "Then there will be the World Cup and I want to be there.". |
